The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars. These liars have lied so well and for so long that they’ve lost their capacity for truth. They will tell you not to get married. They’ll tell you not to eat this or that food—perfectly good food God created to be eaten heartily and with thanksgiving by believers who know better! Everything God created is good, and to be received with thanks. Nothing is to be sneered at and thrown out. God’s Word and our prayers make every item in creation holy.

I always felt that this whole eat this , eat that was wrong. I agree that health should come first, but I really don't necessarily believe that thin means good health. That whole preoccupation to be slim is really mostly vain. Truth be told!!!
Lies...
My friend Ebere asked me the following to which I replied...
Sweetheart, who is disturbing you besides yourself? Surely the desire to be healthy isn't vanity.
MY RESPONSE:
There's a list of people "disturbing" me, Ebere. I can't "disturb" myself naaah! Anyway, obesity is unhealthy, gboor Doctor? But there's a looooooong line from normal to obese which is not necessarily fashionably thin
Aim for healthy, forget about fashion dictats, they change all the time, healthy doesn't. You will know when you reach healthy.
I am aiming for healthy but no food is taboo my focus is on self control which is a desirable state for any Christian to pursue. I am (now) in charge of my food; food no longer controls me
Ebere, well done. I guess indeed He makes ALL things beautiful in His time. The struggle to get here was real, but He has given you victory. I too will find victory, by His grace!
Amen! Victory is yours to claim
Self control.....a Christian aspiration. I like that, Ebere.
It is permissible to do things, but not ALL things are permissible....
Totally agree with you guys. My friend Uzoechi and I always spend time drawing the correlations between our weight struggles and our Christian walk. Discipline is fundamental and yet most elusive. But it can be achieved...
Permission to say something
When it comes to food, we set our own 'taboos'. What I mean, is for example, I have a love-love relationship with food. I have tasted it and, boy oh boy, food is gooood! But now, if I should eat the way it supposedly tastes, that is asking for trouble....big time! But then, if I get a craving for something that may be on the 'taboo' or not-everyday-eats list, I try to 'satisfy' that urge when I can still control 'what' and 'how much'. Those of us who have tasted 'good' stuff will attest to that, so, when we derail, pick ourselves up, do 'penance', get back on track, and mooooove right along!
I am enjoying your blog......
Thanks Obi. Inspiring words...
